About me
What's up?
As creatives each of us have stories as unique as our work. After all, a great tale is the difference between ho hum and holy sh!t. Honestly, without a compelling story you're the boring person at a party or the countless forgotten advertising campaigns. With that said, I have a story for you.
At first glance, I may not be what you expect from an ad professional. My roots grew in the publication world where over 12 years my name appeared on nearly every position in the masthead. This means I've learned a lot, failed some, but picked up valuable lessons along the way. Most importantly, my prior life as a Journalist and Photographer taught me to spot stories not just in the grand and magnificent, but the everyday as well. This is critical to my outlook on strategy and copy in the ad world.
Not only have I worked for established publications and companies but I've also taken the leap of bringing my visions to life. After starting three publications and an apparel company I'm very familiar with the mindset of an entrepreneur. Like a campaign, successful companies require an understanding of self, the marketplace and consumers and find an innovative way to tie all parties together. Several cracks at the business owner life have given me invaluable insight that give me an edge over many creatives in advertising.
Outside of my professional career I've also dedicated over seven years towards another passion of mine, strength and conditioning. For many of you who've sipped the kool-aid, I'm a Crossfit coach. My time as a trainer has given me the opportunity to hone my natural inclination to lead. As a coach I've guided others towards personal goals, both short-term and life-long. The leadership skills I've garnered in the physical realm directly translate into my advertising work where I've taken the control of many group projects from inception to completion.
My story gets better from here, but to hear the rest you'll have to shoot me a line, buy me a drink or call me for an interview. I love talking shop and meeting new people, even the boring party goers. Thanks for your time. I look forward to hearing your story.
